Curious Survey - What do you eat for lunch?

I know I have a fair amount of readers that love to cook and I personally love cooking, but what do you do for lunch most days? I usually bring leftovers, or if I don't have them, I eat a can of soup, sometimes a salad or a "mean cuisine". Maybe 3 or 4 times a year I go out for lunch (during the work week). So what say you? What do you eat for lunch????

Jen,
Mean cuisines? YOU? I am shocked!
Mrs. Gourmet?
I always have roasted peppers w/ fresh mozzarella, or a good tuna on great bread w/ arugula. I LOVE sandwiches.

How about a fig and caper sandwich? since we know they are your favorites!!!! (hee hee)

I know it's surprising haha but as long as something is well cooked and tastes decent, I don't need it to be gourmet. The spa classic line of lean cuisine actually has a lot of veggies and a protein and usually a whole grain. I like that I know exactly how many calories I'm consuming and getting a well balanced lunch, all so I can blow a bunch of calories at dinner LOL!

I work in manhattan so it's pretty easy to run out for a chopped salad, sandwich, falafel, etc... (I typically eat at my desk and read the news or blogs). However, it is just so much cheaper to eat leftovers so I am increasingly trying to make more dinner than I need, and eat the remainder the next day so I don't feel like I'm throwing money out the window.

I typically eat leftovers from dinner. If not that, then a salad or can of soup (usually Italian Wedding Soup). And just like you, I maybe eat out 3-4 times a year.
Oh my god, we are lunch twins!!!

But I confess, I also snack constantly throughout the day.

Lunch twins hahaha! I also enjoy a morning and afternoon snack!!!

I do find that I always look forward to eating leftovers and usually end up cooking bigger dinners so that I have them too!

If I worked in Manhattan I would also be incredibly tempted to eat out, but around RTP our choices are delis and fast food. And the delis just aren't great so they make it easy for me hahaha.

I usually eat, get this, the left overs that my kids don't finish. And I am blaming my weight gain on them, cause I am eating three times the amount of left overs.

Like so many others here, I try to bring leftovers from the night before, providing last nights dinner was any good. Failing that, we try to stock the Tiny Kitchen with healthy frozen items, typically from Amy's Kitchen, an organic-vegetarian food company in Northern California. However, at least once per week I will run to the greasy spoon across the street from work and get a salad or sandwich. It always depends on my level of commitment that day.

I wake up early every day and pack bento boxes! There aren't that many eating-out options around my office. Every once in a while I'll take a break and eat out with my coworkers for a bowl of pho or some Indian buffet.

I am intrigued by the bento boxes, they seem to be quite the rage. What do your bento boxes contain??? Snacks? Veggies? Sandwiches?

I'm another mom usually eating the kids' leftovers. Sad.

I also love freezer meals, especially Amy's spinach pockets. And those Morningstar mushroom-bean "burgers."

Since mid-July, I've started packing bento lunches. Compared to the lean cuisines, the hurried runs out to buy lunch, I'm enjoying this so much better. I'm saving on lunch money and from not driving around especially with sky high gas prices. A friend told me she was also packing bentos for her family and we both started a blog about packing bento lunches together. It's a lot of fun!

Most of the time, I eat ramen or something nasty from a can that I've bought at the job lot or dollar store, which I then blog about.

But I'm not totally weird; sometimes I take leftovers.

I'm all about Hummus and carrots. It's a nice, healthy, low calorie meal that lasts too. I'll also do some Greek yogurt, mixed with spices to make a dip.

I have little kids, which helps, because when I make their lunch I make my own too.

Try Laptop Lunches. The cute little compartments will inspire your inner lunch queen!

Usually I have leftovers, I try to make enought dinner the night before for lunches if I can. If not - I am partial to rye crisps with cheddar cheese and hot pickled eggplant. yum.

I have been working on losing weight without losing my sense of good food. Since my "other" and I are both on a similar "plan" (basically eat good food in smaller portions) Each weekend we spend a day or two in discussion about what we will make this week and then come Sunday night we spend an hour or two creating a new and inventive meal that is health and yummy. This past week was a remake on Chicken Parmesan for a total of 450 Calories and only 8g of fat. Last week was the ground turkey stuffed peppers recipe I posted last week. Yum! I find having a good variety of foods and spending the time to create my lunches each week keeps me from having to resort to mean cuisines :-) or other perservative filled foods.

I VERY rarely eat out for lunch too. I think I just like saving my eating out for weekends or evenings. So I bring much lunch every day.

Typically I make a small side salad with romaine lettuce, carrots and tomatoes and a bit of light dressing. Or I bring a piece of fruit--orange, apple, nectarine.

Then I make a sandwich on whole wheat bread with a whole slew of toppings. (This is where I get my variety). Deli meat, chicken breast, hard boiled eggs, veggies, hummus, PB&J etc. (obviously not all together!)

Lastly, I almost always have a fat-free jello pudding or rice pudding or something along those lines. It is something 100 calories or less and it is sweet, so I feel like I get a dessert. I put these in the freezer a lot so it almost taste like frozen yogurt. MmmmM!

I pretty much eat a tuna or hummus wrap everyday, topped with lettuce, cheese and pickles.

I love sandwiches of all varieties - from hummus, to cheese, to tuna, smoked salmon, whatever is around. I make all our bread at home, so the bread is always yummy!

Oh, and a little secret, I really love chips - not a lot, just a few - usually salt and vinegar kettle chips, and a pickle! :)

McDonald's French Fries because it's close, cheap, and let's face it, yummy. Jamba Juice when I'm feeling virtuous (i.e., fat).

I work in the city (Melbourne, Aus) 3 days a week and I like getting out of the office to eat. Most weeks I rotate between - Japanese (nori rolls or ebi don), Sth Indian (masala dosa) or a delicious Sri Lankan curry combo. These cost about $6 a meal and keep me going til dinner time without a break.
